Prague Vedute of the 18th Century
PhDr. Jiří Lukas, Mgr. Miroslava Přikrylová
The City of Prague Museum, 2017
A unique book published for the exhibition of the same title.
The Czech-English bilingual publication seeks to introduce 18th century Prague to readers. The book is compiled of depictions and detailed descriptions of over four hundred prints presenting the city, its parts, religious and secular buildings as well as statues and sculptural groups adorning Charles Bridge and open spaces. Voluminous albums of prints compiled by Friedrich Bernard Werner in the early 1740s and by Filip and František Heger between 1792 and 1796 are truly outstanding, providing a comprehensive view of Prague.
